Sapientia - Gender : feminine - Type : Noun “Ability to apply relevant knowledge in an insightful way.”
More than two years after their first collaboration, Monstart Records and Circuit 900 are proud to announce the release of “Sapientia” on February the 8th, 2019, the new EP by the Danish duo and 14th release of the French label.
Nicolas Hansen and Jens Madsen created Circuit 900 a couple of years after meeting and exchanging music on Soundcloud. Since “Couch King”, their first EP (also released on Monstart), the two producers developed a percussive and drum-focused music with inspirations from uk bass, tribal house and uk funky.
After Andara EP (Sept 18), their last release supported by DJ oneman, Murlo, Akito and many others, Circuit 900 is back with Sapientia, a drum focused EP witnessing the progression of the duo toward a filtered sound focusing on the little details that make everything within the variations and construction of tracks. It also blends different styles, with a result of tracks fitting with house sets as well as techno sets.
“It’s a collection of tracks that’s been underway for a year or two. All drum-focused tracks that hopefully shows a bit of variety and the scope of our sound.“
Syn’s remix of Lines, showing her craft to challenge the track and breathe new life into it.
“ Circuit 900 sent me it last year and if was instantly a favourite of mine. The original track was very close to my style so I flipped it into something that scavenges their drums but also brings a completely different energy.”
The cherry on top of the cake, the second remix produced by Sylvere, French artist associated equally with the underground Parisian club scene and the hybrid percussive styles of East London basements. As he notes : “This remix is in the image of their last EP, namely a piece that puts a little bit of pressure. There are rhythmic UK Funky and Trance synths specific to my music.”
This EP is a turning point of a new year full of eclectic releases for the Montpellier/Paris based label and promoter Monstart, also celebrating its 10th birthday this year.
Once Ouanounou’s and Chatte Chatoyante teeth were cutted as promoters, Monstart was born. Renown Dj and visionary dancer, they decided to infuse their science of the scene into everything they touched, making Monstart hard to miss when you like to groove.
Each EP is a love letter to the clubbing and physical experiences it offers as you can feel listening to the impressive Monstart Vol.5 compilation, released in 2017.
As Ouanounou notes: “Dance and music must be associated for us, we can’t even imagine a party without more than just DJs performing”.
Turn it up loud and dive into Monstart’s world.
